IPL may be postponed indefinitely: BCCI told IPL franchises that the event stand postponed in the after the lock down to combat the COVID-19 panoramic was extended till May 3, living no scope for the league to take place to during it's designated Window.

While the development has not been officially announced at yet but it is learnt that the BCCI has reached out to  all the stakeholder including the eight franchises and the broadcasters,to convey that the events stands post postponed and not cancelled.

Yes, the BCCI  intimated us that IPL has been postponed for the time being but they are hopeful of finding a window later this year s n when things normalise, a veteran franchise official to PTI on conditions of anonymity.

It is understood that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and secretary were waiting for D Government directive and once the lockdown was extended Din Mein 3 on Tuesday,they saw no possibility of holding the IPL during its traditional April-May window.

Ganguly has repeatedly made it clear that the game cannot be a Priority given  the crisis that the country is facing. India currently has over 10,000 positive cases with over 350 recorded deaths,making it virtually impossible for the Government to lift any of the restrictions put in place last month. The IPL was supposed to be held from March 29 to May 24.

However, on March 13,the BCCI announced that it would be postponed til April 15 due to restrictions placed on the entry of foreigners, which ruled out any International participation.
